Join us at Avoca Museum for a fascinating lecture with W. Lee Eames Jr., Diplomat and Medicine Man for the Central Appalachian Cherokee Tribal Council, as he shares traditional Cherokee knowledge of the plants, trees, and “weeds” that grow all around us and their powerful medicinal uses.

Raised on a historic Franklin County farm along The Great Warrior’s Path, Lee draws on generations of history and heritage to explore the healing properties of about 20 native plants, including Plantain, Usnea (Old Man’s Beard), Cherry Bark, Mullein, and Sassafras.

Discover how Cherokee people used teas, tinctures, poultices, and tonics to treat ailments such as infections, allergies, snakebites, and insomnia. Learn how this wisdom continues to sustain and inspire natural health today.
