In one month's time, United Way of Central Virginia (UWCV) will be having their annual
Hill City Slide event. The event will take place on August 22nd through 24th. UWCV,
partnered with the company Urban Slide, will transform Church Street between 12th
Street and Washington Street into a 700 foot water slide where participants will ride
down on inner tubes. Ticket holders will have a 2 hour time slot where they can slide as
many times as they wish. All proceeds from this event will go towards the mission of
UWCV and their 24 partner agencies.
“We are so excited to bring this event back to downtown Lynchburg after the huge
success it was last year,” said Tabitha Abbott, UWCV Event Coordinator. “Everyone can
tell this event is such a unique experience, not just your average water slide. We even
have new additions this year, such as time slots on Friday evening, adults only night
slides with a lit up slide, and food trucks. Plus, your Hill City Slide wristband can get you
deals and discounts at many local downtown businesses, so you really are getting your
bang for your buck with your ticket.”
The event will take place on Friday, August 22nd to Sunday, August 24th. Tickets are
$30 plus a ticketing fee. Children must be 7 years old and at least 46” tall to ride alone.
Children under 7 years old or under 46 inches tall can slide at a discounted price, and
children ages 3-4 can slide for free — both must ride with a ticket-holding adult.
Children under 3 years old are not permitted to slide. Tickets can be purchased at
Coordinator, at tabitha.abbott@unitedwaycv.org.
